Summer, of course, is high season in Barcelona and it’s beach. In July and August, usually beaches at Barcelona are very crowded, even when it is not weekend. But there is an alternative to the city beaches that is not far from Barcelona. Just 15 minutes by train, the beach of Ocata (in Masnou) offers a good alternative.
Ocata Beach, in the town of Masnou
The best way to get there is the train, because the town of Masnou is a small one, located just in the seafront, with the main road to the north crossing all the town. So there is few space for parking and it is always full of cars going to and from Barcelona. And the train leaves you just in the very beach: go out of it, and you’re in the sand! Take the train in Clot, Passeig de Gràcia o Catalunya with destination Blanes (the main line along the coast) and get down at Ocata, the station after Masnou. And you’re there!
A big beach, with more than 150 meters of sand and some kilometers long. The water is clean, it’s not very deep and from it you can also enjoy a good panorama of the skyline of Barcelona. Some chiringuitos are there to have beer, eat some tapas and more.
